If running a ship at light speed at it pretty much destroys a fleet. Why not make unpiloted drones that do the same?
Still it's fantasy as much as it's sci-fi. these are space wizards remember and probably should be taken as such.
One this that has bugged me since is being told how upset the right (which I consider myself) is that among other things:
1 - There was an Asian character with a decent role.
2 - Heroically Mansplaning was shown to be dismissed thoroughly for 2017 political climate - (even though Leia was dismissing silly recklessness from other characters 40 years ago.)
I though both of those moments were in character with the series and bad moments of plot, But if I have certain political views, I am upset about it.

Was disappointed for the first hour or so, the Luke story was gash and ploddy, Hamil pissed me off for some reason?
Got better from the Rae and Ren fight and also the introduction of Benicia de Toro, fucking awesome actor although he did liven it up his character was wasted, he could have been used more in that story, def a chance missed there.
7/10 being generous.

Fucking hell, everyone's being a bit precious about this.
Saw it today. Was a mindless mildly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. My daughter thought it was ace. I thought it was about par for Star Wars film. Stop over thinking it. It's a silly sci fi film about good versus evil and it's always been that way.
Carrie Fisher flying through space made me laugh out loud. The ewoks were stupid though as well, and Luke was always a sulky self-absorbed cock.
Get over it and reconcile yourselves with the fact it's not highbrow cinema and never has been.
